Lessons Learned

The publication of „Lessons Learned“ by the accident investigation bodies is based on an International Maritime Organization (IMO) Resolution adopted in 2018. Upon completion of an investigation, the BSU therefore examines whether general safety notes can be deduced from the findings obtained. These safety notes are published as „Lessons Learned“ and are – in contrast to safety recommendations – addressed to a wider group of addressees and the public, respectively, with the aim of pointing out safety gaps or existing risks.
